*Answer:

The area (A) of a triangle can be found with the following formula:

A = 1/2bh

Where b is the length of the base and h is the length of the height.

h = b − 3

Substituting the given:

90 = 12b(b − 3)

Solving for b.

180 = b² − 3b

b² − 3b − 180 = 0

Solve by factoring

→ (b − 15) (b + 12) = 0

→ b − 15 = 0 or b + 12 = 0

→ b = 15 or b = −12

Since,

The base can not have a negative length the base is 15 cm in length.
