A triangle has sides x+1, 3x+6y+2 and x-y-9. Find its perimeter.

perimeter = (x+1)+(3x+6y+2)+(x-y-9)

=5x+5y-6

perimeter of triangle = sum of sides of triangle

= (x+1)+ (3x+6y+2) + (x-y-9)

= x + 1 + 3x + 6y + 2 + x - y - 9

= x + 3x + x + 6y - y +2 +1 -9

= 5x + 5y - 6

so the perimeter of the triangle is 5x+5y-6
