Given : a triangle is cut out of a square which in turn was originally was cut out of a circle .if the diameter of the circle was 4cm ,

To find: area of the triangle is at most

Solution:

Diameter of circle =  4 cm

Square is cut from circle

hence Diameter will be diagonal of Square

=> Diagonal of Square = 4 cm

Side of Square =  4/√2 = 2√2 cm

Area of Square = (2√2)² = 8 cm²

Maximum area of triangle cut from a square = (1/2) of Square area

(as maximum base can be side of Square & maximum height can also be side of a square )  = (1/2) * base * height = (1/2) * side * side

= (1/2) 8

= 4  cm²

area of the triangle is at most 4  cm²
