ar(truangle) = 1/2 x b x h

[ Here the base and height of the triangle is also the side of the square i,e 's']

S, ar(triangle) = 1/2 x s x s = 1/2s²

Now, ar(shade region) = ar(triangle) = 1/2s²

         ar(non shaded region) = ar( square ) - ar( triangle ) = s² - 1/2s²

                                                                                                s²/2

        ratio = 1/2s²  /  s²/2

                 =1 / 1 = 1:1
