Given : A triangular flowerbed is being planted inside a circular area of grass.

To Find :  What is the area of the grass (the area surrounding the flowerbed)? (Use 3.14 for π.)

3,315.74 ft²

9,212.96 ft²

8,996.96 ft²

1,965.74 ft²

Solution:

Diameter = 58 ft

Radius = 58/2 = 29 ft

Area of circle = πr²

= π(29)²

=  (3.14) 29²

= 2,640.74 ft²

Area of right angle triangle = (1/2) * 27 * 50   = 675 ft²

area surrounding the flowerbed = 2,640.74 -  675

= 1965.74 ft²
