savitri nissankara was born on 6th december 1933 at chiravvuru village in tadepalli mandal of guntur district.her parents were guruviah and subadramma. her father died when she was 6 months old.she learned music and classical dance and gave stage shows at the age of 8. she was a potential artist. she acted in all film industries. she was married to gemini ganesan in 1952. she has two children vijaya chamundeswari and satish kumar. she was awarded as MAHA NATI, NATA SIROMANI, KALAIMAMANI, NADIYAGAR THILAKAM. she died at the age of 46.
