Let the length of the highway be x

If the vehicles started at 10:30 and pass each other at 1:00, it took them 2.5 (2 hours 30 minutes) hours to pass.

Speed of truck = 40 km/h

Distance travelled in 2.5 hours = 40(2.5)

= 100 km

Speed of bus = 54 km/h

Distance travelled = 54(2.5)

= 135 km

100 + 135 = x

235 = x

Length of highway = 235 km

Hope it helps
