Given : A truck driver averages 60 miles per hour while delivering freight and 45 miles per hour on the return trip.

The total driving time is 7 hours.

To Find :  How long does each trip take

Solution:

Distance = Speed * Time

Let Say distance each side = d  miles

Time taken while going = d/60  hrs

Time taken while return = d/45  hrs

d/60 + d/45  = 7

=> 3d  + 4d = 7 * 180

=> d = 180

Time taken while going = 180/60 = 3  hrs

Time taken while return = 180/45 = 4  hrs

Hence trips were 3 hrs and 4 hrs long.
