A truck is moving on a straight road with uniform acceleration. The following table gives the speed of the truck at various instances of time.

Draw the speed-time graph by choosing a convenient scale. Determine from it :

(i) The acceleration of truck.

(ii) The distance travelled by the truck in 50 seconds

1) Velocity=30 m/s
Time taken=50 s
Acceleration=Velocity/Time
that is, 50/30 =0.6 m/s^2

2)Velocity = 50 m
Time = 30 s
Velocity = Distance/Time
therefore, Distance = Velocity X time
that is, = 30 X 50 = 1500 m

Given :

A table of speed and time of the truck .

To find :

The acceleration of the truck and the distance travelled by the truck in 50 seconds  .

Solution :

Let the initial velocity be u .

u = 5m/s

Acceleration of truck can be found by subtracting any two consecutive speed and dividing it by time interval .

Acceleration = ( 10 - 5 ) / ( 10 - 0 )

                     = 5 / 10

                     = 0.5 m/s^{2}

The distance traveled by truck in 50 sec = u * t + 0.5 * a * t * t

                                                                    = 5 * 50 + 0.5 * 0.5 * 50 * 50

                                                                    = 875 m

The acceleration of the truck is 0.5 m/s^{2} and the distance travelled by the truck in 50 seconds is 875 m.
