A truck is running at 108 km/hr. In the next second, its speed drops to 72 km/hr. Calculate the retar

Initial velocity, u = 108 km/h = 108 × (5/18) = 30 m/s

Final velocity, v = 72 km/h = 72 × (5/18) = 20 m/s

Time, t = 1 s

Acceleration, a = (v – u)/t = (20 – 30)/1 = -10 m/s2

So, retardation = 10 m/s2

Distance covered, s = ut + ½ at2

=> s = 30 × 1 + ½ × (-10) × 12

=> s = 30 – 5

=> s = 25 m
