The first thing we should know, is about correct SI units . For instance , here time is given in hours and minutes so we should convert minutes to hours. It follows as 1 hours =60 min. so 12min.=12/60 hours = 1/5 hours Now total time= 1/5 +1=6/5 hours . So first thing is clear. Now we have to know formula: average velocity= total distance/total time so putting appropriate value we write as: 50km/hr=total distance/6/5. So total distance= 50×6/5=60 km. So, we get our result. Also, we have to be conscious of system of units such as metres, sec, etc.
