Average Speed = Total Distance/ Total Time

Speed in case 1 = 90km/hr = 90/60 km/min

Speed in case 2 = 60km/hr = 60/60 km/min = 1 km/min

Distance travelled in first case = Speed × Time

=90/60 × 20 = 90/3 = 30 km

Distance travelled in second case = Speed × Time

=1 × 20 = 20km

Therefore, total distance travelled= 30+20 = 50km

total time taken = 40 min

Hence average speed = 50/40 = 5/4 km/min

= 5/4 × 60 = 75km/hr
