Given:
The mass of truck, m1 = 8000 kg
The mass of car, m2 = 1000 kg
The velocity of both truck and car is the same, i.e. v.
To Find:
Which one has greater kinetic energy?
Calculation:
- Kinetic Energy of truck is given as:
K1 = 1/2 m1 v²
⇒ K1 = 1/2 × 8000 × v²
⇒ K1 = 4000v²
- Kinetic Energy of car is given as:
K2 = 1/2 m2 v²
⇒ K2 = 1/2 × 1000 × v²
⇒ K2 = 500v²
- Clearly, K1 > K2.
- So, the Truck has greater kinetic energy due to its greater mass.
