Answer:

The increase in kinetic energy of the truck is 1,50,000 J.

Explanation:

The magnitude of speed and velocity are the same. So the magnitude of speed can be also used as the velocity for calculations.

The mass of the truck, m = 1000 Kg

Initial velocity of the truck, v₁ = 36 Km/hr = 10 m/s

Final velocity of the truck, v₂ = 72 Km/hr = 20 m/s

The initial kinetic energy of the truck, K.E₁ = (mv₁²) / 2

                                                                      = (1000 × 10²) / 2

                                                                      = 50,000 J

The final kinetic energy of the truck, K.E₂ = (mv₂²) / 2

                                                                     = (1000 × 20²) / 2

                                                                     = 2,00,000 J

∴ Increase in kinetic energy, K.E = K.E₂ - K.E₁

                                                      = 2,00,000 - 50,000

                                                      = 1,50,000 J
