Answer:

Increase in kinetic energy is 5000 J.

Explanation:

Given :-

A truck of mass 2000 Kg increases its speed from 54 Km/hr to 72 Km/hr.

To find :-

Increase in kinetic energy.

Solution :-

Case (I) :

Mass (m) = 2000 Kg

Speed/Velocity (v₁) = 54 Km/hr

Velocity (v₁) = 54 × 5/18 = 15 m/s

Case (II) :

Mass (m) = 2000 Kg

Speed/Velocity (v₂) = 72 Km/hr

Velocity (v₂) = 72 × 5/18 = 20 m/s

Case (I) :

Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv₁²

K.E. = 1/2 × 2000 × 15

K.E. = 15000 J - (i)

Case (II) :

Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv₂²

K.E. = 1/2 × 2000 × 20

K.E. = 20000 J - (ii)

Increase in the kinetic energy will be :

(ii) - (i)

20000 J - 15000 J

5000 J

Increase in kinetic energy is 5000 J.
