by conservation of momentum,
mv = m1v1+m2v2
2000×v = 500×4 + 1500×2
2000v = 2000+3000
2000v = 5000
v = 5/2 = 2.5 m/s^2
so, after collision their common velocity will be 2.5 m/s^2.
