A truck starts from rest and is moving on a flat road with constant acceleration. it travels a distance of 900m in 30sec. Find its acceleration. Find the force acting on it its mass is 1000kg.

- Distance travelled = 900m
- Time taken to travell = 30s
- Mass of truck = 1000 kg
★ We need to find :-
- Acceleration = ?
- Force = ?
★ Solution :-
Firstly finding acceleration using third equation of motion.
S = ut + ½ at²
Where ,
- S → distance travelled = 900 m
- u → initial velocity = 0 m/s
- a → acceleration = ?
- t → time taken = 30s
• Note :- Here , the initial velocity of the truck will be zero because the the truck is starting from rest .
Substituting the values we have ,
⇒ 900 = 30(u) + ½ × ( a ) × (30)²
⇒ 900 = 30(0) + ½ × a × 900
⇒ 900 = 0 + 450a
⇒ 900 = 450a
⇒ a = 900 ÷ 450
⇒ Acceleration = 2 m/s²
Now , finding force
F = m × a
Where ,
- F → Force = ?
- m → mass = 1000 kg
- a → acceleration = 2 m/s²
Substituting the values we have ,
➠ F = 1000 × 2
➠ Force = 2000 N or 2 × 10³N
∴ Hence , force = 2 × 10³N & acceleration = 2 m/s²
