Given :-

The truck is traveling with a speed of 20 ms-¹ due North then turns west,

Velocity of truck in West direction = v = 20 ms-¹(-î)

Velocity of truck in North direction = u = 20 ms-¹(j)

Now,

Change in Velocity = v - u

∆v = [20(-î) - 20 j] ms-¹

|∆v| = √(20)² + (20)²

|∆v| = √400 + 400

|∆v| = 20√2 ms-¹
