Change in velocity =

sqrt( v1^2+v2^2–2.v1.v2.cos a)

Where ’a’ is the angle through which the body has turned. In this case v1=v2=20m/s and a=90°.Putting the values in the above equation we get our desired answer,

Change in velocity =

= sqrt( 20^2+20^2–2.20.20.cos 90°)

=20*sqrt(2)

=20*1.414

=28.28 m/s.
