Answer: A tuning fork produces first resonance in a glass tube containing an air column when the length of air column was 44 cm and again length was 140 cm in the same tube The wavelength of sound in air column is 64 cm

Explanation:

given : the length of air column was 44 cm and again length was 140 cm in the same tube.

Initial frequency = f1 = nv/41

Final frequency = f2 = (n+3)/v / 4l

Final frequency -Initial frequency = 140 - 44 = 96

f2 -f1 = 3v/4l = 96cm

3v / 4l = 96 cm

as we know V/2l = λ

3λ / 2 = 96 cm

3λ = 192

λ = 192/ 3 = 64cm

The wavelength of sound in air column is 64 cm
