Define x:

Let the cost of the VCR be x

The cost of the TV = 3/2 x

Form equation:

x + 3/2 x = 42,000

Solve x:

x + 3/2 x = 42,000

5/2 x = 42,000

x = 42000 ÷ 5/2

x = Rs 16800

Find the cost of the VCR:

VCR = x = Rs 16800

Answer: The VCR cost Rs 16800

Let the cost of TV be x

Cost of VCR be y

x + y = Rs.42,000.....(1)

x = 3/2( y).....(2)

Sub (2) in (1)

3/2 y + y = 42,000

5y = 84,000

Y = 16,800

Cost of VCR = Rs.16,800

Cost of TV = 3/2(16,800) = Rs.25,200
