(r+3)r=40
r^2+3r=40
r^2+3r-40=0
r^2+8r-5r-40=0
r(r+8)-5(r+8)=0
(r+8)(r-5)=0
hence r= -8,5
r can not be negative as it is in unit's place
r=3
