Let tens digit = x and ones digit = y
Therefore two digit number becomes = 10x + y
According to question--
10x + y = 4(x+y)
10x + y = 4x + 4y
10x - 4x = 4y - y
6x = 3y
x = y / 2 -----------------(1)
Also--
10x + y = 3(xy)
10x + y = 3xy -----------------(2)
On substituting (1) in (2) we get
10(y/2) + y = 3 (y/2) * y
5y + y = 3y²/2
6y * 2 = 3y²
12y = 3y²
12/3 = y²/y
4 = y or y = 4
Put y= 4 in (2) we get
10x + 4 = 3x(4)
10x + 4 = 12x
4 = 12x - 10x
4 = 2x
4 / 2 = x
2 = x or x = 2
So x=2 and y=4
Therefore number is 10(2) + 4 = 20+4 = 24
Therefore two digit number becomes = 10x + y
According to question--
10x + y = 4(x+y)
10x + y = 4x + 4y
10x - 4x = 4y - y
6x = 3y
x = y / 2 -----------------(1)
Also--
10x + y = 3(xy)
10x + y = 3xy -----------------(2)
On substituting (1) in (2) we get
10(y/2) + y = 3 (y/2) * y
5y + y = 3y²/2
6y * 2 = 3y²
12y = 3y²
12/3 = y²/y
4 = y or y = 4
Put y= 4 in (2) we get
10x + 4 = 3x(4)
10x + 4 = 12x
4 = 12x - 10x
4 = 2x
4 / 2 = x
2 = x or x = 2
So x=2 and y=4
Therefore number is 10(2) + 4 = 20+4 = 24
