Let the digit in the unit's place be x.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

✦ Since the digit at unit's place is smaller and the difference between the two digits is 5, therefore, the digit at ten's place = x + 5.

  • As the product of two digits is 24.

(x + 5) x = 24

x² + 5x - 24 = 0

(x + 8) (x - 3) = 0

x + 8 = 0 or x - 3 = 0

x = -8 or x = 3

But, x being a digit of a number cannot be negative so, x is 3.

∴ The digit at unit's place = 3 and the digit at ten's place = 3 + 5 = 8.

❖ Therefore,

  • The required number is 83.
