Answer:

10a+b=7a+7b

10a+b−b=7a+7b−b

10a−7a=7a−7a+6b

3a3=6b3

a=2b

The number that is formed by reversing its digits is 18 less than the original number.

10b+a=10a+b−18

10b+2b=10(2b)+b−18

12b=21b−18

12b−21b=21b−21b−18

−9b−9=−189

b=2

If a=2b, then a=4

What is the number?

10(4)+2=7(4)+7(2)

40+2=28+14

42=42

10(2)+4=10(4)+2−18

20+4=40−16

24=24

So the original number is 42.
