let the two digit number be 10x+y
where x is the digit in tens place and y in the ones place
10x+y = 4(x+y) ———(1)
10x+y = 4x + 4y
6x = 3y
2x= y ————(2)
10x+y = 3(xy)
10x+ y = 3xy ————-(3)
substitute (2) in (3)
10x + 2x = 3(x)(2x)
12x= 6x^2
12/6 = x^2/x
2= x
therefore y = 2x =4
hence the number is 24
