Given :- A two digit number is obtained either by multiplying the sum of the digits by 7 and adding 3 or multiplying the difference of digits by 17 and adding 1, The

number is :

i)54

ii)52

iii)25

iv)30

Solution :-

Let us assume that, unit digit of given two digit number is x and ten's digit is y .

so,

→ 10y + x = 7(x + y) + 3

→ 10y - 7y + x - 7x = 3

→ 3y - 6x = 3

→ 3(y - 2x) = 3

→ y - 2x = 1

→ y = (1 + 2x) --------- Eqn.(1)

and,

→ 10y + x = 17(y - x) + 1

→ 10y - 17y + x + 17x = 1

→ (-7y) + 18x = 1

→ 18x = 1 + 7y

putting value of y ,

→ 18x = 1 + 7(1 + 2x)

→ 18x = 1 + 7 + 14x

→ 18x - 14x = 8

→ 4x = 8

→ x = 2

putting value of x in Eqn.(1),

→ y = 1 + 2 * 2

→ y = 1 + 4

→ y = 5

therefore,

→ Required two digit number = 10y + x = 10*5 + 2 = 50 + 2 = 52 (Ans.)
