Answer:

Let x = tens digit and y = units digit

Then, the number can be expressed as 10x+y

So, 6(x+y) = (10x+y) - 1 and 6(x+y) = (10y+x) + 8

Simplifying, we obtain the system of equations:   4x - 5y = 1

                                                                       5x - 4y = 8

Multiply the first equation by 4 and the second equation by -5:   16x - 20y = 4

                                                                                           -25x+ 20y = -40

Add the equations to obtain -9x = -36.

So, x = 4

     4(4) -5y = 1

            -5y = -15    y = 3

The number is 43.
