The number is 54

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the unit's place digit be x

let ten's place digit be y

Number = 10x+y

We are given that the product of digits is 9

So, xy=20 -- A

if 9 is subtracted from the number ,the digits interchange their places

So,10x+y-9 = 10y+x

9x-9y=9

x-y = 1-- B

Substitute the value of x from A in B

\frac{20}{y}-y = 1

20-y^2 = y

y^2+y-20=0

(y-4)(y+5)=0

y = 4,-5

So, Units place is 4

When y is 4

x-y = 1

x-4 = 1

x=5

Hence the number is 54
