It was with the consent of the United Kingdom that America bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August, 1945. Was this ethical ? This question is being debated till today. This action however, did hasten Japans surrender to the Allies.
On the other hand it is now common knowlege that within the first few months thousands of people died in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Numerous people were crippled for life.
Was it worth it? Supporters say yes, maintaining the bombing hastened the surrender and stoppeed further casualties. Those who oppose the use of the bombings have maintained that it was immoral.
So who is corect - the supporters or the opposers ? Only history will tell.
