A two rope used to pull the car of mass 700kg will break if the tension exceeds 1500N. a. Calculate the maximum acceleration with which the car can be pulled through a level road.
b. Calculate the minimum time required to bring the car to work station 500m away from break point.

Given:-

  • Mass of Car = 700kg.

  • Force Applied = 15000N

  • Distance given = 500m

  • Initial Velocity = 0m/s

To Find:-

  • The maximum Acceleration and the minimum time taken by car to reach 500m.

Formulae used:-

  • F = ma

  • S = ut + ½ × a ×t²

Now,

→ F = ma

→ 15000 = 7000 × a

→ 15000 = 7000a

→ a = 15000/7000

→ a = 2.142m/s²

Hence, The Acceleration of the car will be 2.142m/.

Therefore,

→ S = ut + ½ × a × t²

→ 500 = (0)(t) + ½ × 2.14 × t²

→ 500 = 0 + 1.07 ×t²

→ 500 = 1.07t²

→ t² = 500/1.07

→ t² = 467.2

→ √t = √467.2

→ t = 21.6s.

Hence, The minimum time taken by car will be approx 21.6s.
