5gram Mg = 400gram of steel
xgram Mg = 2200gram of bicycle frames

5x = 400+2200
x = 2600/5 = 520gram

Given:

A type of steel used for bicycle frames contain 5g of manganese in every 400 g of steel.

To Find:

How much manganese. would a 2200 g bicycle frames contain?

Solution:

Amount of manganese in 400 g of steel = 5 g

Amount of manganese in 1 g of steel = \frac{5}{400}

Amount of manganese in 2200 g of steel =\frac{5}{400} \times 2200=27.5g

Hence 2200 g bicycle frames contain 27.5 grams of manganese
