Let w be the weight of metre scale.As the scale is balanced at 20cm and 100gf is suspended on one end (0 mark). The weight of longer arm i.e. BC is balanced by 100gf

∴ CW moment = A.C.W moment

W × 30 = 20 × 100W = 2000/30 = 66.66gf

wt. of 100gf should be suspended at zero mark.
