Given:
A uniform disc sliding horizontal surface.
To find:
Ratio of kinetic energy of upper half and total kinetic energy.
Solution:
The moment of inertia
I=mR²/2
K.E of rotational=mR²w²/4
K.E of translational =mR²w²/2
The total kinetic energy= K.E of rotational + K.E of translational
=3mR²w²/4
The ratio =(mR²w²/4) / (3mR²w²/4)
=1/3
So the ratio of upper half and total kinetic energy of disc is 1/3
