To Find : The weight of the uniform half-meter rod

Solution:

The weight of the uniform half-meter rod = W  gf

uniform half-meter rod  = 50 cm

Hence W lies at center = 50/2  = 25 cm

Distance of W from 20 cm (balanced) mark  = 25  - 20  = 5 cm

Distance of  10 gf  from 20 cm  (balanced) mark  =  20 cm

Clockwise Torque = Anti clock wise torque

10 * 20  = W * 5

=> W = 40 gf

The weight of the uniform half-meter rod is 40 gf

Hence correct option is 4)    40 gf
