A uniform ladder of weight 800 N and of length 7m rests on ahorizontal ground and leans against a smooth vertical wall.the angle made by the ladder with the horizintal is 60 degrees .when a man of weight 600N stands on the ladder at a distance 4m from the top of the ladder , the ladder is at the.point of sliding . Determine the coefficient of friction between the ladder and the floor.

Answer:

cofficient of friction b/w ladder and floor = 0.70

Explanation:

step 1 :

cos 30° = BC/AB = BC/7

BC = 6.06m

SIN 30° = AC/BC = AC/7

AC = 3.5m

Step 2 :

∑V = 0

Rf + Fw = 800+600

Rf + 0 = 1400N

Step 3 :

(800*6.06/2)+(600*3cos30°) = Rw * 3.5

2424+1558.84 = Rw * 3.5

3982.54 = Rw * 3.5

Rw = 1137.86N

Step 4 :

Ff = Rw

Мf * Rf = Rw

Мf = Rw/Rf = 1137.86/1400

Мf = 0.81
