A uniform magnetic field is directed vertically upwards.

Right hand rule,

According to right hand rule, The thumb shows the direction of current , the forefinger shows the direction of magnetic field and the middle finger shows the direction of force.

We need to find the projection of electron

Using right hand rule

If the magnetic field is directed vertically upward then The current flow in west direction.

So, the electron projected toward west is deflected southward.

Hence, The direction of electron's projection should be westward.
