Let the weight of the meter scale be x,

According to the question,

The uniform meter rule is balanced on 60cm mark when a weight of 20gf is hung from one end.

Put it at right side, at 100 to balance.

The longer arm AO balanced by 20gf weight on shorter arm.

As, Scale is 100 cm long it should be balanced on 50 cm .

But due to 20gf wt it's balanced at 60cm.

We have mass of ruler = x & mass of weight = 20gf

Clockwise = W × ( 50 - 40 ) = x × 10 = 10x

Anticlockwise = W × ( 50 - 10 ) = 20 × 40 = 800gf

At equilibrium ,

Clock wise = Anticlockwise

10x = 800 gf

➝ x = 800 / 10

x = 80

The weight of scale is 80 gf .
