A uniform metre scale is kept in equilibrium when supported at the 60 cm mark and a mass Mis suspended
from the 90 cm mark as shown in the figure State with reasons, whether the weight of the scale is greater than
less than or equal to the weight of mass M.
so cm 60 cm
90 cm
100 cm. My question is in the left side it will be 10 cm ×W and right side be 3cm ×m So how we will know what is mass And weight

Answer:

A uniform metre scale is kept in equilibrium when supported at the 60 cm mark and a mass M is suspended from the 90cm mark in the figure. State with reasons, whether the weight of the scale is greater than, less than or equal to the weight of mass M.

Given that

In equilibrium,

weight of scale at 50 cm mark × (60 – 50) cm

= weight of mass M × (90 – 60) cm

Hence, weight of scale = 3 × weight of mass M.

Therefore, weight of scale is greater than the weight of mass M
