When pressure P (= stress = Force/Area) is applied on the surface of the cube, it is compressed. The compression is due to elasticity. Let Y be the Young's modulus of elasticity of the material of the cube.
When the cube is heated, it expands due to increase in temperature. Let α be the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material. Let L be the side of the cube.
Y = Stress / Strain
= P / (ΔL / L)
ΔL = compression = P L / Y
ΔL = α L T
Hence, α L T = P L / Y
=> T = P / α Y
