A uniform rod of mass m and length l is hinged at its mid point in such a way that it can rotate in the vertical plane about a horizontal axis passing through the hinge. One of its ends is attached to a spring of spring constant k which is unstretched when the rod is horizontal. If this end is given a small displacement and released, angular frequency of the resulting motion is

restoring torque is kxl/2=I(alpha)
-kxl/2=(ml^2)/12(alpha)
alpha = -[(kl/2)÷(ml^2)/12] ( x )
so angular freq is 6kl/ml^2 = 6k/ml
