A uniform, solid, 1000kg sphere has a radius of 5m. Find the gravitational force this sphere experts on a 2kg point mass placed at a distance of 2.5m from the centre of the sphere.

Explanation:

Mass of the sphere (M) = 1000 kg, radius of the sphere is (r) =5m

mass of the point mass placed (m)=2 kg.

the distance of m from the center= 2.5m

Force of gravitation between two objects is given by  F_G= \frac{GMm}{r^2},

G=6.67430*10^{-11}m^3kg^{-1}s^{-2}, G is the universal gravitational constant.

F_G=\frac{6.67430*10^{-11}*1000*2}{2.5^2}= 2.135 *10^{-8} N.

I have checked with the values, the correct answer did not match  any option. But the calculation above is correct.
