The resistance of the material is directly connected to it’s length. So when the wire is cut cut into equal parts, then the resistance is reduced by the no of parts.

when 50 ohm wire is cut into 5 equal parts… then each part will have a resistance of 50/5=10 ohm.

Again when connecting parallelly, the total resistance will be…

1/R = 1/10+1/10+1/10+1/10+1/10

1/R = 5/10

R = 2 ohm

We know that R∝l

On cutting the wire into five equal parts, length of each part becomes one-fifth and hence resistance of each part=R= 5/50 =10Ω

When all five wires of resistance R are connected in parallel, equivalent resistance becomes 5/R = 5/10

=2Ω
