A uniform wire of resistance is 25ohms. is cut into five equal parts. These parts are now connected in parallel. Then the equivalent resistance of the combination is?​

SoluTion :-

The resistance of the material is directly connected to it’s length.

So when the wire is cut cut into equal parts, then the resistance is reduced by the number of parts.

When 25 ohm wire is cut into 5 equal parts,

then each part will have a resistance of 25 ÷ 5 = 5 ohm.

When connecting in parallel, the total resistance will be -

\sf {\frac{1}{R} = \frac{1}{5} + \frac{1}{5} + \frac{1}{5} + \frac{1}{5} + \frac{1}{5}}\\\\\sf {\frac{1}{R} =  \frac{5}{5}}\\\\\\\\boxed{Resistance = 2\ ohm}
