If we cut it into two equal half

Then resistance of the one part of wire will be R/2 and that of another part will be R/2

Since these wires are connected in parallel

So, 1/Req = 1/ (R/2) + 1/(R/2)

⇒2/R + 2/R

⇒4/R

Now we have 1/Req = 4/R

So Req = R/4
