A uniformly moving cricket ball is hit with a bat for a very short time and is turned back. Show the variation of its acceleration with time taking the acceleration in the backward direction as positive.

Hii dear,

# Explanation-
Here, we'll study the motion of the ball in horizontal direction only.
- Acceleration of the ball is zero just before it strikes the bat.
- When the ball strikes the bat, it gets accelerated due to the applied impulsive force by the bat.
- Ball with return back with same speed when bat hit it.

Graph of acceleration vs time is given in figure.

Hope that'll solve your queries...

Hi dear,

Here is ur explanation.

form the question the ball is uniformly moving in uniform or with constant velocity then acceleration becomes zero.

the acceleration of the ball before hitting the bat is zero.

And after hitting bat is also zero.

Because of impulsive force.

Impulsive force means the force that acts for a short time .
