A unit vector is represented by ai+bj+ck.

a= 0.6     b = 0.8

To Find:

Value of c

Solution:

Let the unit vector be A

A = ai + bj + ck

i = unit vector in x axis.

j = unit vector in y axis.

k = unit vector in z axis.

Magnitude of a vector |A|

|A| = \sqrt{a^{2} + b^{2} +  c^{2}  }\\

Magnitude of unit vector = 1 units.

a = 0.6

b = 0.8

Substitute the values of a , b and |A| ;

1 = \sqrt{0.6^{2} +0.8^{2} +c^{2}  } \\\\

Taking square both the sides

1 = 0.36 + 0.64 + c^{2}\\ 0 = c

Value of c for given vector a is equal to 0.
