The report, Progress Toward Regional Measles Elimination-Worldwide, 2000-2019, said that measles cases globally had reached a 23-year high to 869,770 in 2019, while deaths from the infection increased by nearly 50% since 2016 to claim nearly 207,500 lives across all WHO regions.
