a Van travels with a constant speed of 32m/s for 5 sec. It begins to accelerate at a rate of 3 m/s×2 for 7 sec and then maintain that speed for another 18 sec . final it slows down to rest in 22 sec. how far did the van travels during the journey?

Answer:

A van at a constant speed of 32 m/s for 5s

u=32m/s

t=5s

  • distance travelled---›ut=32*5=160m

second part

it begins to accelerate at the rate of 3m/s² for 7s

u=32

a=3m/s²

t=7

& the distance travelled is ut+1/2at²

----»32*7+1/2*3*7²

----†»297.5m

and in the next part it maintains the speed for another 18s

V=U+AT------»32+3*7=53m/s

t=7s

so, distance travelled---»VT=53*7=954m

and the another next part:---

it comes down in rest in 22s

u=53m/s

t=22s

v=0

acceleration, a=(v-u)/t

=-53/22 ms-2

distance travelled ---›v²-u²=2a

(S)

-- » (0-53²)/(2*-53/22)

-- » 583m

total distance=160+297.5+954+583m

=1994.5m
