A varandah of width 4.5 m is constructed around a room outside it. if the dimensions of the room are 18.5 ×14m find the following .

a) Area of varandah
b) The cost of paving tiles in the verandah at the rate of r.20 perimeter​

By taking room to be recgtangular in shape,

Length of room =18.5 m

Breadth of room =14 m

Width of verandah=4.5 m

Length of verandah=18.5m +4.5m +4.5m=27.5m

Breadth of verandah =14m +4.5m +4.5m=23m

Now,Area of room = length of room×breadth of room

= 18.5×14

=259 m^2259m
